Spooky Eggs

This was a bit of a fail … alas. Not an “epic fail” as my boys would have been delighted to crow but not quite as I would have liked. I was trying to make Spooky Eggs so boiled some and cracked them all over. The aim was to dye them red and as I knew beetroot juice would make them pinkish I decided to try raspberries.

After soaking for 24 hours I washed off the crushed raspberries and peeled them and found they were covered in red and blue “veins”. They looked amazing but I found it hard to capture on film. They also tasted a bit like raspberry. Not disgusting but not great either.
I would recommend going the beet and settling for pink!

Fun food art eggs for Halloween


– Boiled eggs

– Cover with dye (beetroot/spinach juice)

1. Boil eggs. Crack all over and then cover in coloured juice and allow to sit in fridge for 24 hours.
