Fun Christmas Angel

Christmas Angel

Christmas seems like the right time to make angels!! This is a super simple fun food angel that can be whipped up really quickly.

I had some rare help in the kitchen yesterday from Grandma Jenny. She is over visiting her grandchildren Ilira and Isla and popped in to The Art of Nutrition to provide inspiration ….

Recipe

– Red apple

– I used raisins for eyes and sunflower seeds for wing detail

– Desiccated coconut is perfect for stars

Method

1. Slice the apple in half and use one of the largest central pieces to cut the triangle body.

2. Then cut a circle for the head (I cheated and used a cookie cutter as I’m not quite mad enough to cut perfect circles yet!).

Christmas Angel - 2 head (1 of 1)

3. I used the other large slice of apple to make the wings. I just cut three descending semi-circles on one side and mirrored on the other side. Then I cut the piece in half.

Christmas Angel - 3 wings (1 of 1)

4. I used the outer part of the apple to cut a little mouth and shoes.

Christmas Angel - 4 mouth & feet (1 of 1)

5. Then to give some detail to the wings I placed sunflower seeds along the edges.

Christmas Angel - 5 wing detail (1 of 1)

6. And added some raisin eyes.

Christmas Angel - 6 face (1 of 1)

7. Then she needed her halo which I cut from the outside of the apple.

Christmas Angel - 7 halo (1 of 1)

8. And here she is floating in a celestial sky.

9. But she fades into the background on the pink plate so as per Grandma Jenny I moved her to blue …
