Merry Christmas / Joyeux Noel

Merry Christmas/Joyeux Noel

Merry Christmas and I hope everyone is having a great day surrounded by family, friends and lots of hearty food.

We’re having a lovely time celebrating with our nearest and dearest and I’ve prepared two fun food plates to share. One for the cool, Northern hemisphere where root veggies are king and one for our Southern hemisphere where temps could be upwards of 40 degrees and salads are infinitely preferable!

Fun Christmas Rudolph Pies

Christmas Rudolph Pies

My lentil and meat pies are always a huge treat for the boys so when combined with the Rudolph factor they are a complete winner. I have used my healthy pastry recipe (wholemeal flour/wholegrain oats/water) and the pies themselves are stuffed with veggies and lentils which makes them tasty and nutritious.

I have used basic additions to make these into fun food for Christmas. Skipping the pastry and just using a bowl with any filling and then putting on the face and antlers would work well too and be even more super quick and easy.

5. Then add slices of olives to give the eyes definition.

6. And cut antlers from a carrot.

Fun Christmas Crackers (Bon bons)

Christmas Cracker (Bon Bons)

I love turning simple breakfast food into a visual delight. This is not something that is tricky to make and transforms the humble wheatbrick into a great, fun food Christmas icon.

Use whatever fruit you have in stock to decorate. I used yoghurt coloured by raspberries and blueberries to give it a bright coating.

– I used yoghurt coloured by crushed raspberries and by blueberries for colour

– I used Greek yoghurt, blueberries and strawberries for decoration

Christmas Cracker - 4 purple (1 of 1)

5. And then made some stripes for detail with plain yoghurt.

Christmas Cracker - 5 stripes (1 of 1)

6. I used blueberries and chopped strawberry to give a jewel effect.

Christmas Cracker - 6 blueberries (1 of 1)

7. And then to finish I used some of the yogurt/raspberry mix for a party effect.
