Making simple, cartoon-style animals from salad veg really is very easy and makes mealtimes super fun.

Here’s my fun food, Cucumber Giraffe.

Recipe

– Cucumber

– Yellow capsicum (bell pepper)

– Olive

– Carrot

Method

1. Cut a body shape from the side of the cucumber.

2. Add some legs.

3. And a long neck.

4. A little tail.

5. Then a head.

6. Give her some hooves.

7. And a fluffy tail.

8. Before adding ears and ossicones.

9. Use the inside of the cucumber for the eyes and nostrils.

10. And then the capsicum for the markings.

11. Slices of carrot make perfect grass.

12. And olives shiny, black pupils.

School holidays so it’s good to spend time making some breakfasts!

Here is a simple, fun food, buckwheat Pancake Giraffe (made for Max with his predilection for peanut butter).

Recipe

– Pancake (I used buckwheat)

– Banana

– Peanut butter (no sugar or additives)

– Raisins

Method

1. Make the pancake – I cooked in an egg ring to make the circular shape.

2. Add a banana neck.

3. And some spindly legs.

4. Then a tail.

5. Before adding hooves and tail detail.

6. Banana makes a great head and ears.

7. And ossicones.

8. Then slim down her face a little.

9. And add some raisin eyes and nostrils.

10. Using peanut butter for the unique patterns.
