Fun Queen’s Guard

Queen’s Guard

This weekend in Australia and New Zealand we traditionally celebrate the Queen’s birthday. In honour of the occasion I whipped up a fun food palace guard.

Queen's Guard from fruit

Admittedly not a quick number but sometimes one just has to push the boat out and although it’s a bit complicated it only uses two ingredients!

Recipe

– Red apple

– Plum

Method

1. Cut the cheek from the apple and shape to make the body of the soldier.

Queen's Guard - 1 body (1 of 1)

2. Then add some apple arms.

Queen's Guard - 2 arms (1 of 1)

3. I added a belt and jacket closure from the inside of the apple.

Queen's Guard - 3 belt (1 of 1)

4. With some buttons.

Queen's Guard - 4 buttons (1 of 1)

5. And used more apple for the head and hands.

Queen's Guard - 5 head & hands (1 of 1)

6. Before breaking out the plum for collar and cuffs.

Queen's Guard - 6 cuffs & collars (1 of 1)

7. And also for a smile before adding the buckle.

Queen's Guard - 7 mouth & buckle (1 of 1)

8. Then we needed an ostentatious hat and a nose peeking out.

Queen's Guard - 8 nose & hat (1 of 1)

9. And of course a plum rifle.

Queen's Guard - 9 rifle (1 of 1)

10. That was the end of the design but then I couldn’t help myself and had to add some pants and boots.

Queen's Guard - 10 pants (1 of 1)

11. And to finish the Queen’s initials.
